Holly Lacey

Holly had secured places at her firm and insurance university choices but changed her mind on results day, wanting to stay closer to home.

"I researched the course availability at universities nearer to home and the BA (Hons) Fashion Business and Promotion course at Birmingham City University stood out since it led with more of a business focus.”

"The whole process was really easy. I rang the Clearing hotline and the course leader rang me back promptly to talk me through the course. I decided immediately that the course was for me without even seeing the University."

I felt prepared to start at Birmingham City University

"I didn’t feel at a disadvantage by going through clearing because all information was sent to me promptly and I was able to go on a university tour to see the facilities and learn about the course in more detail.

"There were some projects you could look at over Summer to familiarise yourself with the course before starting, and there were apps available so I that could get to know my new course mates."

Don’t think of Clearing as a second choice

"Be open minded and don’t think of clearing as a second choice. Sometimes your original university of choice can turn out not to be right for you, and Clearing opens up more opportunities."
