How do you get the skills that employers want – and then prove that you've got them? Our new twice-yearly Employability Challenge events give all of our students two whole weeks to develop and demonstrate their employability and are the perfect place to hone those crucial skills.

Gain essential skills for the future

We want to give you every chance to gain the skills and experiences to make you stand out from the crowd. All the activities and events are designed to build your skills in four key areas.

Career Development

Activities will include:

  • CV workshop
  • Mock assessment centre
  • Psychometric tests
  • Interview processes

Entrepreneurship thinking

You will learn about:

  • Negotiating
  • Delegating
  • Leadership
  • Commercial awareness.

Effective Communication Skills

You will build skills in:

  • Speaking and listening
  • Body language
  • Networking
  • Building rapport.

Professionalism in the workplace

You will gain:

  • Organisation and time management skills
  • An appreciation of constructive criticism
  • Self-reliance
  • Confidence and Assertiveness

During the week, you can also take the opportunity to meet employers at our Business Recruitment Fair or put yourself to the test with a whole range of business games and simulations, including a Dragons' Den challenge.
