Islamic Finance in UK Post Covid Recovery Event

The BCU Business school is pleased to say that the recent ‘Role of Islamic Finance in UK Post Covid Recovery’ event was a great success.

Guest speakers Akmal Hanuk, Dr Mohammed R Kroessin and Nasir Rafiq provided the audience with great insight into the world of Islamic Finance and how it’s focus on ethical and fair financial transactions is important for businesses and communities who have been badly effected by Covid.

Shaista Mukadam, the course leader for BSc (Hons) Accounting and Islamic Finance, introduced the evening by giving an overview of the course curriculum and explaining how the course came about from 10 years of research and working out how best to blend it with conventional finance teaching. Dr Wahabalbari Ahmed also spoke about the MSc Islamic Finance course and how he approaches the postgraduate curriculum as course leader.

It was clear throughout the evening that there is a lot of opportunity for collaboration between Businesses and Universities and to bring Islamic Finance further into the mainstream. The Islamic Finance routes that BCU offer are a great opportunity for students to get well connected and embark on careers within an exciting and growing financial sector.
