If you study this course part-time or via distance learning, you will be charged on a pro-rata basis. This means your fee will be calculated per module.
There are no compulsory additional costs or charges associated with studying on this course. While you may choose to purchase personal copies of text books, all our key text books are available from our library or online (subject to normal library loan and online access arrangements).
Based on the past experience of our students, you might find it helpful to set aside about £50 for each year of your studies for your personal stationery and study materials. All our students are provided with 100 free pages of printing each year to a maximum total value of £15.

Contemporary HR for Managers
You will learn to appreciate the current concerns among HR managers, and be aware of current and forthcoming UK and European legislation. You will deliver two, ten-minute team presentations.
You will propose opportunities for the creation of value for a range of stakeholders, through the application of marketing concepts and practices. You’ll also demonstrate transferrable skills, which are essential to a career in marketing and business. To do this, you will design an individual digital poster.
The Professional Manager
You will undertake and report on a series of activities in relation to, and determined by, the specific programme of study. You’ll also produce a reflective account of each activity, articulating the learning and its future application.
Finance for Managers
You will prepare basic budgets based on standard cost calculations, as well as create basic extracts from financial statements.
Understanding Organisations and Organisational Behaviour
You will gain an understanding of the main elements of organisational structures, as well as being able to recognise team-related employee behaviours exhibited within the workplace.
The following optional modules are all worth 20 credits each:
Supply Chain Management
You will gain an understanding of modern supply chain management principles and practice, including the evolution of modern supply chain management theory. You’ll understand apply appropriate management frameworks, which can be used for the planning and control of materials and services. You will also evaluate the range of tools and techniques available to aid efficient and effective supply chain managerial operations.
An Introduction to Consultancy
You will demonstrate a clear appreciation of the linkages between the roles of management consultants, as well as applying a range of theory, knowledge and skills to diagnose organisational issues. You will complete the module with a clear understanding if the skills needed for developing critical insights into organisational issues.
The Reflective Manager
Working on an individual e-portfolio, you will identify the competencies relevant to your future career, as well as reflecting on your performance within your professional practice and co-curricular activities.
Contemporary Management Issues
You will gain an understanding in contemporary and technological management issues within HRM and digital marketing. You will also demonstrate an understanding of project management in the context of managing contemporary issues. Assessment will be via an individual video presentation.
In this module, you will apply relevant strategic concepts and techniques of competitive strategy to the analysis of strategic choice. You will enhance your ability to contribute effectively to discussions, presentations or debates. Assessment will be an individual applied management report of 3,000 words.
You’ll explore and examine the links between management and consultancy approaches, tools and techniques.
Innovative Thinking for Organisation Development
Here, you will justify the significance of innovative thinking and idea generation to support responses to organisational challenges, threats and opportunities.
Managing Lifelong Learning
You will complete an individual video presentation, which will provide a critical evaluation of the practices and methods within your chosen industry or profession.
The Global Manager
On this module, you will identify the key traits of a global manager, analysing the relevance of adapting management styles in today’s rapidly-changing global environments.
Contemporary Global Management Issues
You’ll address key issues confronting managers in a rapidly globalising 21st century where the fast changing global business environment and the dynamics of international shifts in economic power have led to an increased interest in responsiveness of organisations.
Integrated Business Research Project – A Consultancy project
At the end of this module, you should be able to identify, determine and justify a disciplinary-relevant project, including its aims, scopes and objectives. You should also be able to self-manage research, including managing the supervisory process.
Business Management (Consultancy) integrates theory and practice. As such, teaching methods are designed to be diverse, inclusive and to reflect the global context in which you will operate upon graduating.
Methods include face-to-face, blended and independent learning, through a combination of lectures, tutorials, workshops, work-based learning, ‘real-world’ projects and discussion forums.
The methods by which you are assessed reflect the diverse nature of the skills a Business Management (Consultancy) graduate needs and typically include - but are not restricted to - coursework reports, essays, examinations, live company projects, posters and presentations.
Your assessments will include individual and group work, to mirror the real world of work. A programme strength is the emphasis on practice-based assessment where the focus is on enabling development of the knowledge and attributes required of a manager or consultant.
During your second year, you will be able to take part in an international field trip, taking what you have studied and applying it to a global organisation. For example, students have visited the EU Parliament in Brussels, gaining valuable first-hand experience of an established international organisation
In addition you have the opportunity to visit businesses, such as Cadbury World, BMW and Jaguar Land Rover.
Our accreditation from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) ensures you leave the programme perfectly prepared for management in a range of industries, or your own business.
CMI offers a range of training interventions designed to meet the needs of organisations of all sizes and in any sector, from an individual manager studying a qualification to programmes tailored for your team or organisation.
This course is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). This means that you can achieve the Level 5 CMI Diploma in Management and Leadership alongside your degree, as long as you have joined the CMI. The award is conditional on successfully completing the Honours degree programme in the appropriate module areas.
You can gain international insight and experience a new culture with our Erasmus exchange programme. Students have spent a term at a number of incredible institutions, including the University of San Diego in the USA, as well as destinations in Cyprus and Denmark.
After completing the course, you could progress onto one of our Master’s courses, namely MSc Management Consultancy, MSc International Management or MSc International Human Resource Management.
You will have had opportunities to undertake live projects with real employers, to study contemporary relevant business issues, developing the capability to manage the complexity and uncertainty of the contemporary workplace, and to gain a professional qualification in Consulting.
Business Management (Consultancy) incorporates modules specifically designed to build a professional and independent approach to study which facilitates lifelong learning.
You will have access to placement opportunities through the Placement Office. In previous years, students have undertaken placements with established companies such as Microsoft, Disney and Boots.

This allows you to work while you study with us, fitting the job around your course commitments.
