Dr Annette Naudin is Associate Professor Academic, with responsibility for Learning and Teaching at Birmingham Institute for Media and English.
Annette is an Enterprise Education fellow of the National Centre for Graduate Entrepreneurship and has had a leading role exploring creative enterprise education for EU funded projects at Birmingham City University. Annette is a member of the Birmingham Centre for Media and Cultural Research (BCMCR), and a member of the Creative Industries research cluster. Annette’s research is concerned with inequalities and the challenges faced by cultural workers, the relationship to cultural policy, to place and to higher education. In 2018, Annette published ‘Cultural Entrepreneurship: The cultural worker’s experience of Entrepreneurship’ and in 2020, Annette co-edited a book entitled ‘Craft Entrepreneurship’, with Dr Karen Patel.
Prior to working in academia, Annette set up a creative enterprise, running a successful textile design business, supplying outlets such as Liberty, Harrods and exporting to Japan, USA and Europe. This first-hand experience of creative entrepreneurship led to creative industry consultancy work with clients including local authorities, Craftspace and Arts Council England. Annette is Trustee and chair of the board of governors for The Old Print Works, a creative and co-working space in Birmingham, UK.
