Every year for the past few years the School of Art has opened its doors to local schools, giving their students chance to exhibit work in the first floor studios.

16 schools participated and exhibited work this year, including REACH, an alternative provision school for students in years 9 – 11.
Work featured in the exhibitions include painting, drawing and sculpture. Staff at Margaret Street have commented on the quality of the work from the students, with particular interest to the portrait theme seen throughout the exhibition.
The exhibition went up on Friday 22nd June and will run for 2 weeks.
Last week’s private view on Monday 25th June was reported to be very successful with over 100 people attending to get a first glimpse of the students hard work.
The schools who took part this year have been attending workshops here at Margaret Street, run by the technical team. The workshops include sculpture, textiles and photography, giving the students an insight into what an art school as to offer and opening up possibilities to studying art subjects in further education.
