Join the National Orchestra for All (NOFA) for the finale of their 2018-19 season ‘WordPlay’, exploring how music can be inspired or influenced by both written word and the spoken word.
Repertoire will include the world première of a newly commissioned piece by Danyal Dhondy Orchestra of Overheard Conversations. This piece was developed by NOFA members drawing upon and developing motifs from the accents of NOFA members and conversations captured throughout the season. Spoken word artist, Kit Finnie, has collaborated with Danyal Dhondy on this work. She will perform spoken word with NOFA, live at the concert's première.
NOFA is a unique, mixed ability orchestra made up of 100 musicians aged 11-18 from across all four countries of the UK. It is the only non-auditioned national orchestra in the world. Young musicians are nominated by teachers, community music leaders, social workers and charity partners for showing dedication and commitment to music in the face of challenging circumstances.
