I-Hsuan Peng piano

Beethoven Piano Sonata in A major, Op.101
Ravel Valse nobles et sentimentales
Kapustin Piano Sonata No.6, Op.62

Beethoven’s Sonata Op.101 broke the sonata tradition and influenced many later composers including Schubert and Brahms, while Ravel’s Valse nobles et sentimentales was entitled in homage to Schubert. We can spot the jazz influences in Kapustin's Piano Sonata No.6, Op.62.

Each work is distinct in its rhythmic personality from the marching style in Beethoven’s second movement to the elegant triple meter of Ravel’s Valse; and the jazz and boogie-woogie dance rhythms of the Kapustin create an exciting atmosphere.
