Do you want to be your own boss? Do you have the ambition to be the founder of a successful company? We can help turn your business idea into reality!

You could set up your own company at any time, including for your placement year or when you graduate. All you need is a viable idea and the commitment to make it succeed.

BSEEN has supported over 450 students and graduates to set up over 240 businesses in the last three years! Could your business be next?

The BSEEN (Birmingham Skills for Enterprise and Employability Network) programme offers an attractive package of intensive start-up support for new ventures.

Successful applicants benefit from a variety of workshops including a five day intensive start-up boot-camp with networking opportunities, tailored mentoring, a business grant and dedicated incubator space.

We will be delivering a workshop on Wednesday 25 May where we will be providing an overview of the BSEEN programme, the application process and answer any questions you may have. Following this, our Enterprise Advisor, Richard Leighton will also be delivering a talk where he will talk about his own entrepreneurial pursuits and how he turned a £500 voluntary project into a £500,000 Social Enterprise.

How do I get involved?

  1. Attend the workshop on Wednesday 25 May to find out more.
  2. Submit your BSEEN Application Form by 5pm Monday 6 June 2016. Please email Laura.Guest@bcu.ac.uk to obtain an application form.
  3. If shortlisted, attend a friendly panel interview on 13 or 14 June 2016.
  4. If successful, you will be invited to attend the Start-up Boot Camp from Monday 12 to Friday 16 September 2016.

BSEEN, financed by the European Regional Development Fund, is a collaborative initiative between Birmingham City University, Aston University, University College Birmingham and Newman University. It is available to students from these universities and graduates within the last five years from any university living in the Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP area.
