Improve your skills and get valuable work experience and a reference. Volunteering is a great way to get a reference and fill gaps in your work experience. You can also try out different types of work to get a taster. Alongside volunteering you can develop a useful network of contacts which can all help you if you’re looking for a job or want to change direction. Your experience may lead to paid employment or in the very least it will make you more employable.
Boosting your CV:
We did a survey of some of the UK’s leading businesses and 73 per cent said they'd rather employ someone who has volunteered over someone who hasn’t. And over half said that the experience you get from volunteering can be more valuable than work experience.
