Six brilliantly evocative works for solo piano. Debussy conjures a Javanese Gamelan, a Spanish dance and French children’s songs in Estampes. Ravel’s Miriors are titled Night Moths, Sad Birds,  A Boat on the Ocean, Morning Song of the Jester and the Valley of Bells.

Dutilleux, composer of exquisitely colouful music, has created in his Piano Sonata what has been described as a personal synthesis of French Impressionism, Bartok and Prokoviev.
