Franck Piano Quintet in F Minor

A turning point in the history of the String Quartet, Debussy’s Quartet is considered his first great work. It grips the listener from the first robust chord, dispelling all things Germanic and creating a new world of colour, sensation and ever-changing mood.

Cesar Frank’s colossal Quintet has been variously described as “an explosion”, exhibiting “torrid emotional power”, or the product of “unctuous narcissism”. Most listeners are swept away by it!
