This project was born from long-term partnerships between several organisations: both conservatoires of Birmingham and Lyon (CNSMDL) and the ensemble Court-Circuit, whose artistic director is also professor of composition at CNSMDL.

Each of these institutions is, along with festivals associated with the project (Cheltenham, Frontiers in Birmingham) and GRAME (national centre for musical creation in Lyon) is particularly involved in the promotion of contemporary musical repertory and musical creation.

The aim is for students enrolled on performance and composition courses in Birmingham and Lyon to develop a passion for and a detailed knowledge of some of the most demanding works in the contemporary music repertoire, and to have the opportunity to perform as part of a big and emblematic festival.

Part of the Cheltenham Festival with Ensemble Court-Circuit and students from the Lyon Conservatoire.
