By Sophie Treadwell
Directed by Kristine Landon-Smith

A young woman who lives with her mother, reluctantly follows the rituals that society expects of her. She marries her boss, whom she finds repulsive, yet has a baby with him. But following an affair with a younger man who fuels her lust for life, she is driven to murder her husband leading to her conviction and subsequent execution.

"Machinal transcends the drab drama of the police court; it has a quality one finds it difficult to define, a beauty that cannot be conveyed in words, an aliveness and reality tinctured with poetic pathos which lift it to the realm of great art, greatly conceived and greatly presented.” Perriton Maxwell, editor of Theatre Magazine.

Based on the true story of the life of Ruth Snyder, Machinal is considered a modern classic.

Contains themes and language of an adult nature.

Machinal is presented through special arrangement of The Roman Catholic Church Diocese of Tucson.
