Varèse Octandre
Ibert Divertissement
Milhaud La création du monde

Join us for this free concert given by the students of Birmingham Conservatoire’s course in orchestral conducting as they work with talented young musicians on some highlights of the chamber ensemble repertoire from the first half of the 20th century.

Josef Javora and Ioannis Giannopoulos both conduct unusually-scored works for groups of eight musicians, before student Margarita Mikhailova tackles two pieces by French composers: Jacques Ibert’s lighthearted Divertissement and the jazz inspired music for Darius Milhaud’s short ballet La création du monde.
