Birmingham Repertory Theatre

"Birmingham Repertory Theatre has a strong working relationship with Birmingham City University’s Birmingham School of Acting (Community and Applied Performance) and its School of English (collaborative playwriting and technology transfer). As one of Britain’s leading regional theatres, we are developing new talent and new work. We are delighted to be part of the University’s Cultural Advisory Board and to pursue shared aims of encouraging outreach activity and building new audiences”.
Steve Ball, Associate Director, Birmingham Repertory Theatre

Ikon was started fifty years ago by a group of artists who taught at the Birmingham School of Art. Since then the two institutions have closely worked together, determined to enrich the cultural life of this city. Our shared commitment to the promotion of visual art in particular – remarkably free as a means of communication and relevant with respect to all aspects of everyday life – inspires great optimism as we look forward to the next fifty years“.
Jonathan Watkins Director, IKON

“The support offered by BCU has been invaluable to Capsule in terms of helping us to realise ambitious projects such as Supersonic Festival. Access to resources such as academic staff, and hosting events within the university as well as working with students to build a strong volunteer team has meant that we have been able to build on our successes year on year”.
Lisa Meyer, Capsule Director
