The value we offer

Birmingham City University offers a high quality, student-focused education in a professional and friendly environment. Our distinctive approach to learning, with a focus on practical skills and their application in a professional setting, equips our students with the experience and knowledge they need to support their lives after university. We have transformed our curriculum with a range of almost 350 contemporary, flexible courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level, with practice-based learning built into every stage.

The University continues to attract increasing numbers of students, both from the UK and across the world, who are drawn to our model of education and our collaborations with business and industry partners across a range of sectors. Our courses result in some of the country’s most employable graduates – 97 per cent of our graduates were in employment or further study within six months of graduating (Destination of Leavers from HE survey 2016/17).

We have invested £340 million in our campuses and facilities to support our approach to learning and teaching, with students able to access industry-standard facilities during their studies, better preparing them for life after their course. In 2017/18, this included a major expansion of our City Centre Campus and the official opening of Curzon B, offering additional teaching and learning space for 3,000 students and staff in more than 650 rooms. We also opened a £41 million extension at our City South Campus with specialist laboratories for our new courses in sport and life sciences, and a new home for our education courses.
