I am a puppet maker/designer with professional skills in a variety of outlets including set design and construction and installation and attraction design.
On 26th December 2015 Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, was hit with some of the worst floods in living memory. The usual picturesque town was transformed into a sea of mud and sludge and the whole town rallied together to fix the mess made. I have worked with a puppetry company based in Hebden Bridge called Handmade Parade to create two puppets for their summer parade; this year a tribute to the floods, held exactly 6 months after they hit. I have created two puppets that reflect the themes of transformation, rebirth and growth and, along with a creative writing graduate, have devised a story about a fish in the floods that adds context and power to the puppetry.
Puppetry based on the season Autumn. I took inspiration from Bonfire Night, Will O' The Wisps and Halloween to create this puppet. It is made from plastic carrier bags, willow and papier mâché. The aim of the puppet would be to be involved in an Autumn Lamplighter festival.
