Craig is currently Senior Academic for Research in the School of Engineering, Design and Manufacturing Systems. Developing and managing the schools research interests, engaging with industry and other academic institutions. Providing benefit to the University’s academic interests while delivering applied research into industry to improve competitiveness and the ‘bottom line’.

His academic and industrial experience is fed directly into MSc and BEng courses at Birmingham City University as well as guest lecturing at external universities.

Current activity includes direct research funding from Rolls-Royce to capture, model and utilise captured knowledge to enable the development of design automation environments.

Craig’s specialist area of Knowledge Based Engineering has been developed into bespoke courses to enable companies to understand the methods, tools and techniques and how to apply KBE into their companies. These courses have been applied to Rolls-Royce for both management and engineering staff, receiving good reviews.
