The Career Zone is our dedicated careers service, which provides advice and guidance to students, graduates and staff at Birmingham City University, supporting them in developing the skills required to plan and manage your career.
The Careers team are professionally qualified and experienced Career Consultants and can be accessed via Student Services, either by dropping in to see us, contacting us online at Ask Us, joining us in our regular ChatLive chatrooms or by calling +44 (0)121 331 5588.
You can access the Career Zone at any point while you are at the University – and even beyond. As a Birmingham City University graduate, you are entitled to access Careers services for up to five years after graduating.
Many Birmingham City University courses are career-focused and the Career Zone works with you as part of your studies. We can provide individual advice and guidance on a range of topics including:
- Writing CVs and covering letters
- Identifying skills
- Marketing yourself to an employer
- Preparing for interviews
- Options after your course
- Self-employment
- Postgraduate study
- Working abroad.
We have well-stocked resources in the Student Services offices at City North, City South, Gosta Green and Millennium Point campuses, so please come along and pick up handouts and other information that will help you in your job hunt.

The Career Zone team are all members of Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS).The team work to the ethics and professional standards set by the professional body. Our service has gained the Matrix quality award for the quality of service that we provide.
Course Enquiries Team
The Course Enquiries Team is a dedicated information and guidance centre for prospective students wanting to find out about the courses we offer at Birmingham City University. We offer a range of advice from entry qualifications and how to apply, to help with finding accommodation and managing your finances.
