How to apply

Firm up your offer

To apply for accommodation at Birmingham City University, you first need to accept us as your firm or insurance choice. Applications for the Academic Year 2024/25 will open from 1 February 2024. After accepting your offer, please allow up to 24 hours for the system to update with your details before you register and then apply in the Accommodation Portal. All first-year, full-time home and international students are guaranteed University accommodation if they have firmly accepted an offer in the main application cycle and apply by the deadline date.

When applying you will need to know which halls you would prefer to stay in. You will be asked to give preferences during the application process.

What next?

The allocation of rooms begins from 7 February 2024 for those students who have already accepted an unconditional course offer. When you have been allocated a room, you will receive an email informing you of the room you have been offered and at which point you must follow the instructions in that email to accept the room offered. To accept your room offer you will be required to make either a deposit or advance payment within the deadline date (three days for UK and five days for international students). For the majority of the accommodation sites you are required to provide a guarantor. Please see each of the accommodation pages or click on the Facilities Summary. All offers for Beech Gardens, Bentley House, Jennens Court, Lakeside, Queens Hospital Close, Staniforth House, The Heights, The Old Fire Station and Hamstead will be sent by email with a deadline by which you must respond to the respective site provider.

Living in halls

We realise that moving in with complete strangers can be daunting. But living at uni is also incredibly exciting, the chance to meet new people and make new friends should be seen as a positive. Here's some tips and advice on making the move.
