The University has a nominations agreement in place with Opal 1 Birmingham for the provision of 180 rooms from September 2013 to July 2014. The University is aware that Opal 1 Birmingham has gone into administration, but is working with the administrators to ensure the continued provision of these rooms.
Opal 1 is a modern, privately owned complex located on Belgrave Middleway, just over a mile from Broad Street and Five Ways in the city centre.
Due to its location, priority is given to students of Birmingham Conservatoire and Birmingham Institute of Art Design.
With its on-site gym, 16 m swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna available at an extra cost, common room with wide screen TV and Sky, and 24-hour on-site laundrette, this is a superb facility.
Opal 1 comprises 180 single en suite bedrooms with sink, toilet and shower. All have free broadband access, large beds with under bed storage, study desk and chair, desk lamp, wardrobe and book shelves. Pay-as-you-go telephones are available through Ask4 and top-ups can be made online.
You share a well-equipped kitchen and lounge with between three and five other students and you are expected to cleaning your own room and shared living areas using your own cleaning products. We provide each flat with a mop and bucket, dustpan and brush, and ironing board.
We ensure your safety with 24-hour security, CCTV coverage and fob entry system.
