Our Applied Sociology pathways are designed to be vocational and we focus on issues of employability and professional development throughout your course.
By the time you graduate, you will not only have a thorough grounding in the academic principles of sociology, you will also be capable of working by yourself or alongside others as a team member.
In your final year, career consultants will help you to identify and prepare for suitable employment.
Speed networking events
We have hosted speed networking events for our Social Sciences students. This is offers a fast and fun way for you to meet some of the most proactive and innovative focussed employers in the region, giving you the opportunity to secure a position with one of the attending employers.
Speed Networking is a face-to-face professional networking model similar to “speed dating”, that enables participants to make new contacts through focused conversations lasting between 4-5 minutes.
We are using Speed Networking to help you forge new connections with local employers who are looking to recruit students into a variety of roles.
Employers who have attended previously include:
- Action for Children
- Birmingham Crime Diversion Scheme
- Coventry YMCA
- Midland Heart
- West Midlands Police.
