Morag MacDonald, David Kane, Harriet Cuttler and James Williams have recently completed an evaluation of the work, funded by the BIG Lottery, of the local women’s centre, Anawim.
The evaluation has underlined the value of the services provided both personally to the women themselves and as part of the criminal justice programme. There is little doubt that the work Anawim does is hugely beneficial to many of the women that use the service.
It is also clear that many more women could benefit from engagement with Anawim. However, current staffing levels and other resources are not sufficient to cope with a significant increase in the number of referrals to the service.
