    Dr Deborah Earnshaw has been studying psychology since 2009, and has so far acquired two degrees (BSc. (Hons) in 2012, Master of Research in 2015), and is currently in the final stages of the PhD candidacy (2018), all from the University of Derby.

    Dr Helen Egan was part of a team working with NIMHE (National Institute for Mental Health) involved in developing and evaluating the Primary Care Mental Health Worker role in the West Midlands. She has worked in the NHS developing patient engagement strategies and evaluating the quality of services.

  • Dr Aaisha Farooqi

    Research Fellow in Psychology

    Dr Aaisha Farooqi graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology at University of Leicester, and an MSc in Ergonomics at Loughborough University. She then went on to complete her PhD in Human Factors at the University of Nottingham, which was sponsored by Network Rail.

  • Dr Richard Fereday

    Lecturer in Psychology

    Before joining the department in 2017, Dr Richard Fereday held a post-doctoral position at the University of Liverpool. Prior to this he completed his education in Wales, with a psychology PhD (Cardiff University) and degree (Glamorgan). Richard also has a degree in music, from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

    Dr Olga Fotakopoulou is a Lecturer in Developmental Psychology in the Division of Psychology at Birmingham City University. Olga has worked as a researcher since 2003 in research projects funded by the European Union.

  • Dr John Galvin

    Before joining Birmingham City University as a Lecturer in 2016, Dr John Galvin studied and worked in Wales. He completed his undergraduate degree in Bangor University, his PhD at Cardiff University, and has provided assistance on a variety of research projects including working for Public Health Wales.

    Dr Laura Hammond joined Birmingham City University in early 2018. Prior to this she was based at the International Research Centre for Investigative Psychology at the University of Huddersfield (initially as a Research Fellow, and then later as a Senior Lecturer).

  • Dr Emily Harrison

    Lecturer in Applied Psychology

    Dr Emily Harrison completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2011 and went on to complete a PhD in reading development in early 2015. Her research has largely focused on children’s reading development, more specifically to do with the role of rhythmic awareness in the development of early literacy skills.

    Dr Natalie Harrison  is a Lecturer in Forensic Psychology at Birmingham City University. She completed her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Psychology at the University of Central Lancashire in 2009 before completing her PhD on sibling aggression.

    As Professor of Occupational Health Psychology, Craig Jackson is interested in the effect of workplaces and working on people’s health and psychological wellbeing. He is also the Head of the Psychology department.
