Depth of Focus is a new photography project being launched by the Criminology Department at Birmingham City University.  The project gives students a unique opportunity to capture their interpretations of different social constructs. Themes will include diverse topics which hope to tell the story of modern Britain.

The signing up process is free, and is open to all Criminology undergraduates. Every three weeks, participants will be given a topic which they must explore through photography. Students then submit their work and a short written piece explaining the story behind it.

A special Twitter handle has been created @InstaCrim, providing an online platform for students to display their ideas. The project will culminate with an exhibition of chosen works at Birmingham City University.

Criminology Lecturer and creator of Depth of Focus, Jonathan Jackson, said:

Depth of Focus will be launching for new and existing undergraduate students during Welcome Week. Any student interested in signing up to the project should email Jonathan.Jackson@bcu.ac.uk. Alternatively, visit @InstaCrim to view images already submitted.
