Mike joined us as Research Professor in Criminal Justice in 2004 from the University of Leicester and in 2009 he was awarded an Emeritus Professorship.

Mike has researched and published widely in the areas of public order policing and policing change, both in the UK and internationally.

His recent work includes King, M. (2013) 'Birmingham revisited - causal differences between the riots of 2011 and 2005?', Policing & Society, 23(1):26-45; King, M. and Waddington, D.
