Anne’s current research projects include historical fashion and costume, jewellery and its relation to self, sustainability in fashion and cross-cultural fashion (particularly in China and India). She has established the CRAFTED fashion network, which involves academics from a number of institutions, museums and galleries, as well as commercial designers. This promotes collaborative research on the power and politics of fashion.
Her research interests include the psychology of fashion, the social psychological impact of clothing, researcher education and development, and the ethical aspects of research. Her teaching specialisms include fashion theory, research practice and methodology, ethics of research and psychology.
Current research projects
Anne’s current research focuses on the notion of control, its relation to self awareness, and its impact on fashion and clothing choice. Her work in this area is part of a wider initiative she is leading, exploring power and politics in fashion.
