To underpin this, we have developed an infrastructure comprising two research centres:

These centres create opportunities for sharing, collaboration and guidance for individual researchers. They are dedicated to making, exchanging and translating into everyday knowledge the techniques, methods and practices that challenge and embolden the landscape of art and design and directly influence the higher education curricula.

We also have the following research platforms:

These platforms, along with our research centres, all work towards building on the unique cultural heritage of Birmingham. Our commitment to bringing cutting-edge design innovation to the regional cultural economy is at the centre of our research philosophy.
