Claire Hartley is a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) and Senior Lecturer (in acquired communication difficulties) at Birmingham City University. She is also the Programme Director for the Return to Practice in SLT Programme. Her interests include aphasia, motor speech disorders, simulated practice in SLT, and working with service users. She is a Better Conversations Champion, Lee Silverman voice treatment (LSVT) Certified clinician and Chairs the Central Neuro Rehab Clinical Excellence Network (CEN).

She authored the first ever simulation in her department and has been a staunch advocate for this learning and teaching methodology since. She combines her interest in aphasia and service user involvement by working with service users to develop and deliver the simulations to pre-registration SLT/Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP).  She is a member of the Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare.
