Production Hub
The Production Hub is a centralised, professional service that deals with the School of Media’s many requests to deliver media projects or offers of work experience to its students.
The School’s projects include work for both internal and external clients, and allow academic staff, industry professionals and students to work together as a production team, giving students the opportunity to gain unique access to professionals and enhance their professional development.
Recently staff and students, alongside freelance professionals, produced a collection of short films commissioned by the University’s Faculty of Health to inform women about endometriosis, a debilitating gynaecological condition. The films are available in five languages.
The Hub also posts jobs and work opportunities onto Moodle, allowing students on different courses to combine their skills and work together on projects, as well as developing their contacts within the media industry.
Current work and placement opportunities include BBC Birmingham television researcher roles, paid journalism work with Asian World magazine and press operations volunteers for the 2012 Olympics.
