Video Compression and Codex
Course Overview
This one-day workshop is designed to give those with video production experience further information on video compression technologies. The course is also suited to web developers who have to deal with different formats of video. The course will look at the various acquisition formats now available (both SD and HD) and how you can work effectively with these formats in your non-linear editing software. We assess the advantages and disadvantages of editing natively vs. using an intermediate codex and which hardware/software is available to transcode your footage whilst maintaining quality. We also take a look at the variety of delivery formats now available and use practical, hands-on exercises to demonstrate the best techniques needed to compress your video for delivery via DVD, Blu-ray, Podcasts, YouTube and Flash.
