Course Overview

This three day training course in Birmingham City centre at the NTI Birmingham delves into the world of DVD authoring with DVD Studio Pro 4. In this comprehensive course, students will learn everything they need to create a professional DVD title. This course guides students through every aspect of DVD authoring, from initial storyboarding to burning and replication.

Using compelling media and a real-world production workflow, students will learn how to create amazing MPEG 2 video with Compressor as well as create eye-popping motion menus directly in DVD Studio Pro 4. Students will also “author” a DVD by creating buttons, interactive links, slideshows, playlists and even adding alternate audio stream and camera angles.

The book for this course is Apple Pro Training Series, “DVD Studio Pro 4, Third Edition,” by Martin Sitter and Adrian Ramseier with Robbie Carman and Richard Harrington.

Storyboarding a DVD, Creating a Storyboard Using the Graphical Tab, Previewing the Finished Project with DVD Player Application, Identifying Source Video Settings, Setting DVD Studio Pro Preferences, Setting Up Disc Properties, Importing Audio and Video, and Setting Chapter Markers.

Creating Menus in DVD Studio Pro

The Menu Creation Process, Importing Assets, Adding a Background Graphic, Using the Title Safe and Action Safe Guides, Creating Buttons on a Still Menu, Connecting Buttons to Video, Adding Text to a Menu, Adding Sound to a Menu, Creating an Intro Menu, Targeting Navigation on your DVD and Using a Drop Zone to Create a Motion Menu.

Using Alternate Angles

Setting Up the Project, About Alternate Angles, Creating Multi-Angle Tracks, Creating Mixed-Angle Tracks, Targeting Alternate Angle Streams, Simulating Alternate Angle Errors and Exploring Final Cut Pro Markers.

Converting SD to HD

HD to SD Down conversions, Encoding HD Assets and Converting SD Projects to HD Projects.

Certification Exam

Students take an end user exam to earn Apple Certified Pro, DVD Studio Pro 4 Level One status.

Assessment

The Certified Professional (ACP), Level 1 in DVD Studio Pro 4 certification is granted upon successful completion of the DVD Studio Pro4 Level 1 exam.

This course also counts toward Final Cut Studio (FCS) Master Pro certification. when combined with successful completetion of three of the following exams:

  • Color Correction in Final Cut Studio Level One: Color 101
  • Final Cut Pro 7 Level Two: FCP 300
  • Motion 4 Level One: Motion 101
  • Sound Editing in Final Cut Studio Level One: Sound 101

Prerequisites
