Course Overview

If you’re always being told to be quiet in class, why not use it to your advantage with a career in radio! Not so sure? Take a four day dip into the world of live radio with this fantastic four-day radio production workshop for 13-16 year olds; Future Creative: Radio.

By the end of the four days, you’ll have recorded your own original short radio show for broadcast, utilising the library of pre-recorded audio you’ll have developed, captured and produced throughout the week.

You’ll work in teams on elements of news, documentary, magazine, music, comedy and current affairs productions, while learning about the different markets for radio (commercial, public service, and community), scheduling, marketing and how to tailor your own show to listeners.

Your team will have daily production meetings to plan and gather show material, alongside training in the technical side of radio production. You’ll then head off to source interviews, live guests, voxpops, games, competitions, and much more for your own radio programme.

On top of that, there’s room to flex those musical muscles by composing original jingles, stings and audio beds using professional music editing software to create a polished listening experience.

Radio shows produced on Future Creative: Radio will be available for download online.
