Our Experience

In 2008, 42 school pupils from nearby schools – aged 13 to 15, worked together over the summer to produce their very own short horror film, The Sweeper. Pupils were involved in every aspect of the production process including script writing, film making, editing and scoring music to the film, which got the red carpet treatment at its own screening at the New Street Odeon, Birmingham.

The following year, the scheme ran as Sound It Out, which gave 16 gifted pupils the opportunity to become part of production team learning to create, produce edit and stream their own radio feature online. Each student gained hands-on experience of a specific role, such as producer, DJ/Presenter, news reader or managing adverts and jingles.

BBC Broadcast Bootcamp
