Research Opportunities
Specialist researchers
We encourage and actively support completing research students and staff to apply through the funding councils for research fellowships and similar specialist appointments. If you are interested in gaining a position with us as specialist researcher, please contact our Staff Research Coordinator, Prof Ronald Woodley.

Opportunities for full-time staff
All full-time academic/teaching staff at the Conservatoire are expected to be research active, and are given considerable support in maintaining research activity alongside their other responsibilities. This includes:
- Financial support for attending conferences/performances
- Reading/reviewing draft papers
- Remission equivalent to one day per week from teaching responsibilities
- Formal accounting of research supervision as a teaching activity
- Internal study days
- Encouraging external conferences at the Conservatoire
Internal funding is sometimes available for specific projects, especially those that are unlikely to gain external research funding, eg recordings of unusual repertoire or specialist concerts.
Opportunities for part-time staff
Part-time staff have full entitlement to bid for research funding, support to attend conferences and participation in study days. Several are active as research supervisors.
