Sharon joined the Adult Nursing department in the spring of 2014 and has a wide range of clinical skills and knowledge.
After qualifying, Sharon gained experience in a range of clinical areas, including a longer period of acute/ general surgery. After applying for a staff nurse post in Intensive Care, she progressed in this area through completion of a post-registration critical care course (ENB 100), ultimately achieving a Sisters post. Sharon has always had an interest in teaching, and after gaining a City & Guilds teaching qualification, she had the opportunity a few years later to apply for a Professional Development Nurse role.
Within this role, she was involved and responsible for a range of teaching and learning activities for all staff in the department, as well as actively contributing to wider practice development initiatives in the organisation. She has also undertaken a secondment into a Senior Nurse Manager role, which allowed her to develop excellent leadership and organisation skills, including risk management, quality initiatives and change management.
In addition, Sharon is an Advanced Life Support Instructor, and has undertaken instruction on courses within local healthcare providers to maintain this status.
