A mental health nurse by background, Jim helps to co-ordinate nursing students’ first clinical module at Birmingham City University, with responsibility for developing the teaching and learning experience around therapeutic communication skills.
He also co-ordinates the teaching and learning of recovery approaches to working with voice hearers at Birmingham City University, for pre-and post-qualifying nurses and other mental health workers.
He is particularly interested in how people acquire skills to work within a recovery framework and embed these into routine practice. He also supports and provides supervision to people locally who are involved in running hearing voices groups, and has a research interest in this area.
