A mental health nursing student from Birmingham City University, who shed an incredible nine stone, says it was the dream of becoming a mental health nurse which spurred her to lose the extra pounds.

23 year-old Sian Robinson, from Worcester, weighed in at 21 stone as a result of a daily diet of takeaways, chocolate and crisps, leaving her struggling to even walk up the stairs.

However when her weight started to impact on her dream of becoming a nurse, Sian realised it was time to take action.

Sian joined her local Slimming World group where she learnt new eating habits and how to combat her unhealthy ways, and has now gone from a size 24 dress size to a size 12, but as Sian explains the results aren’t just physical.

“I have so much more confidence now I’ve lost the weight. Before I was too embarrassed to go on nights out with friends but now I feel happier and confident in myself and plan to live life to the full. I’m in my second year of my course and loving every minute of it, and this experience I think will go far in helping me to support others in my day to day role as a student nurse.”
