A School of Media expert has been called on to play a key role in a national project run by the BBC.
Paul Bradshaw, Reader in Online Journalism (pictured), is one of the experts involved in the Future of News initiative, which will be setting out ideas about how the BBC news service should operate over the coming years.
Paul leads the MA in Online Journalism and has a background in magazine and website management. He has also been ranked as the UK's seventh most influential UK journalist on Twitter by PeerIndex.
Speaking at one of the launch events at The Mailbox, Paul said: “The project is a vitally important initiative as the BBC faces one of the most challenging periods in its history.
“We're now a decade into what is likely to be a long period of change for the media, and the BBC's new Head of News is trying to get the corporation to adapt to what looks to be a very different future. The University has a good reputation in this area and it's very exciting to be invited to be a part of this."
James Harding, the BBC's Director of News and Current Affairs, said: "The BBC’s Future of News project is intended to make sure that we look beyond our daily output to keep abreast of innovation and new ideas in the news business.
"We are drawing ideas from everyone, from Birmingham City University to Twitter, Vice to the ONS."
