The School of Jewellery is celebrating after students took home an incredible 16 prizes from the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council Awards 2017.
The prestigious awards, described as the Oscars for jewellery, are designed to promote the pursuit of excellence in craftsmanship and design in silversmithing, goldsmithing, jewellery and the allied crafts. The black tie ceremony was held at The Livery Hall in London.
Our students and graduates collected awards from across all the range of categories, with a clean sweep in the 2D CAD Design section a particular highlight.
Amongst the other awards, Stephanie Holt won The National Association of Jewellers Creativity Award, and Chen Cheng took home The Gold and Silver Wyre Drawers Awards. All of the student awards were judged by a panel of industry experts.
Katy Tromans, a Jewellery and Objects – Design for Industry graduate, impressed judges with her ‘Alice in Wonderland’-inspired jewellery holder.
“My work is all about inducing memories, for it to have its own meaning and to tell a story”, said Katy.
Other award recipients included Jewellery and Silversmithing - Design for Industry student Rhiannon Rogers and graduate Becky Wilkes, recognised for her nylon flowers fashion jewellery project.
