Applicants for UK visas valid for more than six months from certain countries are required to obtain a certificate to show they are free from infectious pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). This applies to students from:
- Bangladesh
- Sudan
- Tanzania
- Thailand, Cambodia and Laos
- Pakistan
- Ghana, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Togo and Niger
- Kenya, Eritrea, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda
Please note that dependants are also required to be screened.
You should carry your certificate and X-ray in your hand luggage to avoid being delayed on your arrival to the UK.
There is a cost for this screening, which varies from country to country, and it is your responsibility to meet this cost. For more information about tuberculosis screening, please visit the British Embassy or High Commission website for your country or the Ukvisas website.
