Entry requirements

Once you have found the course you would like to apply for, it is important that you make sure you have, or are aiming to achieve, the entry requirements for that course - these can be found on the individual course pages. We accept a wide variety of international qualifications to meet general entry requirements – please check with the faculty or contact bcuinternational@enquiries.uk.com.

Competence in English requirements

Our courses are taught and assessed entirely in English. Therefore, if your first language is not English, you will need to demonstrate appropriate proficiency. If your Confirmation of Acceptance for Students (CAS) number was assigned to you on or after 21 April 2011, we will ensure that:

  • you are competent in English language at a minimum of CEFR level B2, if you will be enrolling on a course at NQF 6/QCF 6/SCQF 9 or above, or
  • you are competent in English language at a minimum of CEFR level B1, if you will be enrolling on a course at NQF 3-5/QCF 3-5/SCQF 6-8, or
  • you are a national of a majority English-speaking country.

If you do not meet the English language requirement, we cannot assign a CAS to you.

We accept a wide range of overseas qualifications, including:

  • IELTS, TOEFL or Pearsons
  • WAEC (Africa)
  • Indian Standard XII (CBSE Board)
  • Indian Standard XII (Tamil Nadu Board)
  • Malaysian SPM

To find out if your current qualifications are comparable to British standards, please contact our International Office, or check your country pages.

If you fall just below the required standard, we run a range of English courses that can help you improve your language skills prior to beginning your academic course.
