Teaching interests/activities

  • I have been involved in looking at moving and handling issues with Andrea Page for the last year. We have developed Virtuar, an interactive 3D e-learning programme which may have commercial viability.
  • Nursing management skills and simulation.
  • Preceptorship.
  • Ventilation management/renal management in Intensive Care and acute setting.

Development of a vibrating 'suit' that improves posture which could save the NHS millions of pounds a year lost to staff back injuries. Read the full news article.

  • Making moving and handling more interesting and memorable.
  • Improving the effectiveness of motor skills learning in moving and handling training.
  • The use of motion capture and haptic feedback to promote posture and positioning.
  • The use of VoIP to promote student tutorials from remote areas.
  • The use of IPOD touch for student learning.
