Mental Health Studies Programme

Group Counselling The Mental Health Studies Programme Framework allows healthcare professionals to choose their own path of study, that complements their area of interest, work place need or specialism.

The award you will receive upon successful completion depends on both your existing qualifications, and the combination of modules and pathways that you choose to study.

The awards available are :

  • An Advanced Diploma Professional Studies Dimensions in Mental Health Studies.
  • An Advanced Diploma Professional Studies in a chosen pathway (title determined by the pathway).
  • A Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mental Health Studies.
  • A Bachelor of Science (BSc) in a chosen pathway (title determined by the pathway).
  • A BSc (Hons) in Mental Health Studies.
  • A Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Studies.
  • A Graduate Certificate in a chosen pathway (title determined by package of modules completed).
  • A Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Studies.
  • A Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Studies (title determined by the pathway).

Awards Framework

The type of award you receive upon graduating depends on both your existing qualifications, and the combination of modules and pathways that you choose to study.

Here's how it works:

  • Entry Requirements

    All students must be engaging in an appropriate mental health context one day per week.

    What award you exit the programme with is dependent upon the amount credits you enter the programme with.

    To gain a BSc / BSc (Hons) you must have the equivalent of a Dip HE or 240 credits of which at least 120 are at Level 4 and a 120 are at level 5 as recognised by this university.

    To gain a Graduate Certificate / Diploma you must have a relevant Bachelors degree (Ordinary or Honours) or 300/360 credits of which at least 60 are at level 6.

    The Advanced Diploma Professional Studies Award will be suitable for you if you do not have the prerequisites for any of the other awards.

  • NB – This model assumes the selection of single modules of 15 credit value. The total required number of credits (i.e.15, 60 or 120) rather than the number of modules should be considered.

Healthcare professionals choose their own path, by cherry picking the core modules, area of specialisation and optional modules that suit their needs.
