Laura recently joined the Elizabeth Bryan Multiple Births Centre as a PhD student and assistant lecturer in May 2017; her research will endeavour to explore parents’ of twins and higher order multiples experiences of antenatal care, using a qualitative approach.
Laura qualified as a midwife in 2006, she practised at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital initially rotating between delivery suite and the postnatal ward. She joined the midwifery led birth unit as it was established becoming a core member of staff and enjoyed being able to advocate for women and help them achieve a minimal intervention birth.
In 2013 Laura commenced studies as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse and began practising as a Health Visitor in Birmingham, working with families from diverse backgrounds with a variety of complex needs.
Laura is keen to contribute to the research already accomplished at Birmingham City University and hopes that her own research project will be used to improve upon the services offered to families of multiples.
