Career advice

At Birmingham City University, our dedicated Careers Consultants support you in achieving your career aspirations – and you can continue to benefit from their help and advice for up to five years after finishing your course.

The Careers and Job Prospects Service helps students and graduates to develop employability and career management skills. Services include providing access to jobs and work experience opportunities, employer mentoring and recruitment events.

Many of our graduates go on to achieve success in a wide range of careers.

Starting out at the University can be daunting, whether you’re coming here as a new student or a postgraduate returning to develop your skills further on a short course.

We can help you settled in, with advice from what you can expect when working off-site on a work placement, to guidance to help you achieve your career aims.

Many of our students have gone on to excel in their subject areas.

At EDMS, we have a whole host of resources to help you make the most of your studies - remember, your tutor is always on hand to give advice and support on personal and academic issues, and can also provide guidance on study methods and course options.

We also offer specific advice for our international students, including how to obtain and extend your student visa in the UK, advice on settling in Birmingham and assistance about working in the UK after your studies.
