On 28 September, Dr Franco Cheung kicked off a new series of lunchtime research seminars by staff from the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment (CEBE) with a presentation on ‘BIM-Enabled Collaborative Platform for Innovative Low Impact School Procurement’.
Dr Cheung is one of a number of new faculty members who will be sharing their research over the coming weeks. The research seminars are a great opportunity to meet new faculty members and find out about the interesting research which is happening across different departments.
Franco Cheung comes to Birmingham City University from Oxford Brookes University, following a professional career as a quantity surveyor for a consultant and contractors specialising in cost planning.
He developed his specialism in cost modelling and forecasting techniques through his PhD study. Franco is an active researcher with recent studies in the areas of risk analysis, building information modelling (BIM) and value co-creation. His research has been published in leading refereed journals in the field of construction management.
He is keen to develop links with industry through research. He has managed and contributed to a number of research studies. His seminar presentation focused on a recent project funded by EPSRC and Innovate UK to develop integrated data model for low impact design and collaborative BIM platform for low impact schools.
Dr Cheung is experienced in teaching a broad range of quantity surveying and commercial management subjects including cost planning, procurement, risk management, BIM cost management and project appraisal at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
