The School of Law has been at the forefront of innovative law teaching for more than 40 years. Renowned for our emphasis on vocational courses and close links with law firms throughout the region, we have also gained an international reputation as a major centre for academically rigorous legal education and training.

Our two replica court rooms, Legal Advice & Representation Unit and Virtual Solicitors’ Office give you the opportunity to experience real-world situations as part of your studies. We also offer a unique USA internship opportunity.

We have more than 40 years’ experience in providing innovative and demanding legal education to those wishing to enter this challenging profession.
The School of Law is fully accredited by the Law Society and the Bar Council as a Centre for Continuing Professional Development. When it was last graded by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, our Legal Practice Course achieved the highest grade of ‘Commendable Practice’ in all six areas.
Our LLB is accredited by the Joint Academic Stage Board of England and Wales as a Qualifying Law Degree (enabling students to progress to qualification as a barrister or solicitor) and is recognised by a large number of overseas legal professional bodies, including the Bar Council of India.
Research
Our committed and expert lecturers have a broad range of academic and professional skills. They are actively engaged in internationally recognised research, much of which is conducted through the auspices of our Centre for American Legal Studies.
In addition to undertaking academic research, we work with the legal profession and related bodies.
