About Us
The Faculty of Education, Law and Social Sciences, based at City North Campus, offers an innovative learning environment, as well as outstanding facilities and resources.
Cutting edge
We specialise in the fields of education and teacher training, law, criminology, criminal investigation, sociology and psychology, and have a strong record of teaching, research and consultancy.
Consistently ranked in the UK top 30 for many of our courses, we remain at the cutting edge of new ideas by challenging both staff and students to excel in research and studies.
We are able to offer a wide variety of academically rigorous, vocationally focused courses on a flexible basis, and support lifelong learning through the delivery of short courses and seminars for individuals and larger bespoke groups.
Schools
The pioneering School of Social Sciences is a major provider of full, part-time and professionally accredited courses, embracing criminal justice and criminology, psychology, and sociology and policy studies.
Our School of Education trains more teachers than any other provider in the West Midlands and we are the tenth largest teacher training provider in the UK. We are proud recipients of a ‘Grade One: Outstanding’ classification by Ofsted for both primary and secondary teacher training and are recognised by the Training and Development Agency (TDA) for the high quality of our provision.
The School of Law, which is fully accredited by the Law Society as a Law CPD centre, offers the UK's largest student internship programme to the USA. It boasts very strong links with the professional legal world and works with practice to ensure our courses are professionally relevant for the 21st century. Excellent facilities include two mock courtrooms and a virtual solicitors’ office.
